Status update v0.0.5

Just in case you where wondering.. No, development has not stopped!

Ok, things are moving a bit too slow maybe, but it will take the time it takes to get the next release ready. v0.0.5 has the following changes so far:

  • Profile section is gone, and all profiles will be migrated to an asset.
  • CM related settings previously found in the profile has been moved into 2 different tabs on the Asset Edit screen - CM Settings and CM Approvers
  • Approvers can now be any existing user in the system, or any valid email address. Once can still chose if approval is done per asset, or one a specific change type per asset.
  • File attachment upload has been improved to increase security. It is no possible to blacklist or whitelist based on file extension.
  • Added a severity option to CM Events registration screen.
  • A history/eventlog for CM Events showing what has been done to an event, and by whom.
  • Assets can be part of more than one security group,
  • Users can be added when creating new groups, rather than having to create the group, and edit each user to add it to an newly created group.

Major things that remain to be done before a release can be made available:

  • Finish the Event Edit changes.
  • Finish the history/event code for CM Event edits
  • Rewrite the code for handling approval of CM Events (not too sure what the best way to do that is yet)
  • Rewrite search function for the new db layout.
  • Make sure SQL code is compatible with PostgreSQL and possibly Oracle.
  • Make sure code works without PHPs magic qoute enabled and is XSS resistant.

I don't dare guess as to when the new release will be ready. But I certainly do hope it will be this side of the year.

Stay tuned!

Regards,
Thomas

Progress on v0.0.5

The development on v0.0.5 is moving ahead slowly. It is taking longer than expected, but that's nothing new. ;-) v0.0.5 will focus maninly on moving away from profiles and migrating all the data entry into assets. This will avoid having to duplicate data as it has been with previous versions. The migration script is more or less done, and the work to alter all the code to use the assets rather than profiles has just started. I expect this work will take at least another month or two, all depending on how much time I get to devote to Brage CM. Stay tuned. :-)
